To begin my summer Project I drew the contours of my face onto a piece of acetate, i laid a grid out underneath it so i knew where each of the letters would have to be placed. I then worked the letters into the contour lines as smoothly as possible. I used letters that were as similar as possible to my handwriting. I felt that as this alphabet was intended to tell others about myself, having it depict me when assembled in a certain way would be an interesting way of achieving this goal. The way a person looks is a massive part of their identity so I wanted to include this in my outcome. I also believe that a persons handwriting can tell a lot about them, this is why I used this aspect in my outcome.
Using a combination of Illustrator and Photoshop I edited my original drawing, experimenting with different effects, adding fill colours that signify the shadows on the face.
I wanted to make this piece more informative and used images within some of the shapes on the piece to fulfil this. The images include some of my favourite places, where i spend my time, some friends and some of my hobbies.
The image above displays the letters that are dotted throughout the piece more clearly. If i were to do the project again I think I would try and make the letters stand out more and possibly stick with a line drawing rather than doing the fill.
