Funkybit Poster

Me and Ellie Heywood collaborated on this poster and turned it around in the very short time frame we were given of one day. We were asked to make the poster look 'funky' and to maybe try and incorporate an afro. After doing a couple of rough sketches we came up with the idea of using circular lettering overlaying an afro. We looked for some secondary imagery to use and edited the image, changing the colour mode, the curves, levels adding grain and cropping the image. We used a simple bright colour scheme and bold sans serif type.

Idea sketches

Anthony Burrill  - striking use of woodblock type

Vhils - Layers of texture and image

Orphan Type, fits with concept of homelessness

Finest halftone I could get that allows the type to be seen below

Smaller test prints - used for Hyde Park Book Club

Made a few attempts at clear foiling but kept on ruining the prints

Triptych piece using just their faces cropped. Takes them out of the environment.
