OUGD504 - Studio Brief 01 - My Design Process (2/2)

After deciding upon the format of the folded leaflet I could begin the design process. I looked into a few different ways of designing the content to fit the square. At first I thought about using the folds as a grid and having various elements of the design spanning across different amounts of panels. However after speaking to a few people I decided to divide most of the content up so that each section fit onto a single panel. I felt this provided some order within the chaos.

I used a combination of hand drawn and vector graphics. I felt that having no consistent style of the design across the document would convey the chaos.

I experimented with a few different ways of attaching the leaflet to the sleeve but none were successful. Shown above is one of the failed attempts.

I decided to add a tag onto the leaflet to make it easier to pull out of the sleeve.

The original sleeve design was really boring and far too simple in comparison to the design of the leaflet. I spent some time working between Illustrator and Photoshop making a chaotic design with lots of layers and textures.

Overall I was happy with the outcome. I think the folding mechanism is what makes the outcome good. Looking back at the design, there are lots of improvements I could make.
