After completing the branding project for ICCYL they decided they wanted to use the rebrand and apply it to all of their promotional material including the website. They asked if I could design the website. I have a small amount of experience with web design and some friends who are talented programmers. I contacted one of my friends and we decided to do the project, we gave the client our quote after corresponding about what they would need.
As the website is solely for information purposes we decided that it would be better to keep the functionality really simple. I looked at these one page sites (shown below) for inspiration.

The use of bold flat colour on Matteo Belfio's portfolio site really inspired me with the ICCYL site. As i wanted to keep it to a simple one page design where i could blocks of colour would be a great way of separating each section. ICCYL's colour scheme is quite striking so I should definitely utilise this in the design of the website.
I also like the way that diagonal lines are used to design the pages, it makes the site much more dynamic and adds something unique.
Although I do really like the simplicity of Matteo Belfio's site, simplicity to this extent would not work for iccyl.com; there is too much information to convey and navigating the site would be difficult without a menu bar. This site designed for the British Heart Foundation by Nice and Serious, a studio based in London. The use of the menu bar and the one page function is really interesting. I also like the way that certain graphic elements move whilst scrolling. This is something I will explore.
The use of organic lines and colour to link different sections of the 'textra' site together has inspired me. I want to make my website really aesthetically pleasing and easy to look at. I think the use of these lines is effective in doing this. It also makes the website look much less corporate and friendly, this is something else I wish to achieve with the ICCYL site.
